3D User Interface Designer
As a team of 4 we built an immersive physical and digital kiosk prototype to breath new life into the modern music landscape where digital media has become king, giving voice to the underserved music-media community.
Using research, prototyping, iteration, feedback, and branding we refined our vision for exploring how we can reimagine printing technology for an unconventional use case, letting our creativity lead and our fundamentals guide our innovation.
Defining the Problem
How can we create new immersive experiences in spaces we frequent?
Opportunity Solution
Music.
The music medium is engraved in our everyday routines and culture and
draws on deep connections within our lives. Let's make it tangible and sentimental experience.

1. Journey Mapping 'who'

2. Competitive Analysis 'what'

3. User Interviews and Research 'why'

Using Inkscape and the laser cutter at the UCSD Makerspace, we mocked the 3D layout
We struggled with dimensional alignment, working with the physical medium involved variable materials, thickness, and slight cutting discrepancies.
To overcome this, we would purposefully leave room for error by cutting slightly bigger and adjusting downwards to perfectly fit our needs.

Who it's all about

Reflection
I loved the scrappiness this project required, forcing me to creatively problem solve material, engineering, and design constraints to make our vision come to life. From ideation to use-ability, the kiosk reminds me to bring immersive design and real world stakes into the design equation, when possible.
I'm reminded to question,
"Is there a need for an app, how do we push user interaction beyond the digital?"
